Biographical Information
Robby was born on November 1, 1964 in Houston, Texas. He was reared in Houston and baptized at age eight at Garden Oaks Baptist Church, Houston, Texas.
Robby graduated from Texas A&M University with a BBA in 1987. That same year he married Susan. He went on to work for Tenneco Oil Company and Lone Star Plywood and Door Company for five years.
In 1992, Robby responded to a call from the Lord to vocational ministry at Lazybrook Baptist Church, Houston, under Pastor J. K. Minton. Robby was Minister to Adults at this church from 06/1993 to 01/1996.
In response to his call to ministry, Robby enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 1995. He graduated from Phoenix Seminary with his Doctorate of Ministry in May 2008.
Robby planted and pastored a church in the Portland, Oregon area from 02/1996 to 12/2000. He also served as interim church planting strategist in the Interstate Baptist Association during the last two years he was in Portland.
From 01/2001 to 05/2008 Robby served with the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, eventually becoming Director of Missions for the state convention. He was responsible for the overall leadership of the Missions Team which included Church Planting, Disaster Relief, and Missions Mobilization/Education.
Robby began with Bluebonnet Baptist Association in 06/2008 to 12/2009 as the Associate Director of Missions. He was responsible for the church planting ministry of the association as well as other duties. In 01/2010, Robby became the Executive Director of Bluebonnet Baptist Association.
Robby and Susan live in New Braunfels, Texas where they are members of New Generations Fellowship, a bilingual church and former church plant of Bluebonnet Baptist Association. Their daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Jeff Merrick, also live in New Braunfels. Robby (“Pops”) and Susan (“Big Mama”) specialize in spoiling their grandchildren.
